IShowSpeed Asks Islam Makhachev to Train Brother in Dagestan for Years
Popular online personality IShowSpeed has reportedly reached out to UFC lightweight champion and pound-for-pound king Islam Makhachev with an unusual request: to take his younger brother, Jamal, to Dagestan for an intensive training period of two to three years.
The idea surfaced during one of Speed's recent live streams. After Jamal struggled to complete even 20 push-ups, Speed floated the concept of sending him to Dagestan. This idea caught the attention of Islam Makhachev, who reacted to the video.
Upon seeing Makhachev's reaction, the American streamer informed his brother of his intention to immediately message the 34-year-old fighter to inquire about Jamal's potential training in Dagestan.
IShowSpeed Praises "Legend" Islam Makhachev, Insists Jamal Go to Dagestan
While browsing Islam Makhachev’s Instagram feed, Speed addressed his brother:
"No messing around. Seriously. You're going to spend two to three years in Dagestan. This man [Islam Makhachev] is a legend, brother. You'll spend two to three years with him. You're going to get fit… Your life will change, brother… Why don't you want to go? Are you scared? You need to be a man, brother."
Jamal responded to his brother's persistent suggestion:
"No, I'm not. He’s [Islam Makhachev] a legend, but I’m not going to Dagestan. I’m not going, brother… I’m scared, brother."
Speed maintained that he was not joking and appeared entirely serious about his plan to send Jamal to Dagestan. During the live stream, he even sent a direct message to Islam Makhachev, asking if he could send Jamal to Dagestan for "2-3 years and forget about him."
"I just DM’d [Islam Makhachev]. He [Jamal] is about to turn into a man. For real. He’s too scared."
Islam Makhachev is currently preparing for his next title defense, which UFC President Dana White has indicated is planned for August.
