U.S. military forces carried out strikes on two Iranian rocket launchers located on Larak Island on Sunday. This action was taken following reports from the U.S. Central Command that Iranian Revolutionary Guard forces were preparing to launch rockets equipped with sea mines towards the Strait of Hormuz.

"I can confirm that earlier today U.S. forces struck two Iranian launchers on Larak Island. Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces were observed preparing to launch rockets with sea mines into the Strait of Hormuz," stated Navy Capt. Tim Hawkins, a spokesperson for U.S. Central Command.

Hawkins also mentioned that U.S. forces had recently completed the removal of sea mines from the international shipping routes within the strait. He emphasized that U.S. forces are maintaining close surveillance of the area and are prepared to ensure the unimpeded flow of commerce through this critical maritime passage.

According to The Associated Press, Sunday's U.S. strike is the first publicly acknowledged engagement against Iranian positions since late July. The ongoing conflict, now in its sixth month, has significantly disrupted maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial artery for global energy transportation.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards have reportedly acknowledged the U.S. strikes, indicated casualties, and vowed retaliation. The group has stated their intention to respond.

This is a developing story. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
