Eddie Hearn Blasts Dana White: Zuffa Boxing 'Hasn't Left The Garage Yet'
Following recent strong criticisms from Dana White aimed at him and other promoters during a Zuffa Boxing event, prominent boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has issued a sharp retort. The ongoing rivalry between these two influential figures in combat sports escalated after White dismissed Hearn's standing, particularly in relation to the Tom Aspinall situation.
White had unequivocally scoffed at the idea of Hearn being a rival promoter. He stated, "Is he [Eddie Hearn] a rival promoter? I haven’t seen a f***ing rival anything from Eddie Hearn or any of these other guys. He’s a manager now. Who gives a sh*t?" White further questioned what unique contributions Hearn could offer to the management landscape that hadn't already been witnessed over the past quarter-century.
Appearing on The Ariel Helwani Show, Eddie Hearn wasted no time in delivering a powerful counter-argument. The Matchroom Sport chairman firmly asserted that Dana White is fundamentally unsuited for the boxing business, expressing genuine surprise at the UFC CEO's rapid "implosion" within the sport. Hearn highlighted the apparent inconsistency in White's behavior, noting that White has repeatedly hurled insults, even challenging him to a fight, only to later declare him as no competition. Hearn confidently declared, "In boxing right now, he cannot lace my boots."
Hearn was particularly scathing in his assessment of Zuffa Boxing's accomplishments, labeling their content as merely "bang-average." He contended that White has no basis for pride, as Zuffa Boxing is "not even out of the garage yet" and its events, hosted at venues like the Meta APEX, cannot legitimately be compared to Matchroom's sold-out stadium shows. Hearn directly challenged White to demonstrate anything genuinely "special" that Zuffa Boxing has managed to achieve, implying that White's heated reactions were a symptom of a lack of tangible success.
