Arctos Agrees to Purchase 10% of Atlanta Falcons at $10.6 Billion Valuation
Arctos has finalized an agreement to acquire a 10% stake in the Atlanta Falcons. This deal values the NFL franchise at $10.6 billion. The transaction is expected to be completed in two phases over the next 18 months.
Arthur Blank, the current owner, holds just under 73% of the Falcons. It remains undisclosed whether the 10% being sold solely represents Blank's equity or if it also includes stakes from limited partners.
Should the NFL grant approval, which is anticipated to occur in October, this acquisition would mark Arctos' fourth investment in an NFL team. Their previous ventures include stakes in the Los Angeles Chargers, Buffalo Bills, and Cleveland Browns.
The NFL has not provided any comment on the matter. Representatives for the Falcons and Arctos have also declined to comment.
The valuation of NFL teams has seen a significant increase, highlighted by the pending sale of the Seattle Seahawks for a record $9.61 billion. The league is scheduled to vote on the Seahawks deal later this month.
Previously, in September 2025, CNBC's Official NFL Valuations estimated the Falcons' worth at $8 billion, placing them 11th among league teams.
Arthur Blank, co-founder of Home Depot, originally purchased the team in 2002 for $545 million.
The Falcons have yet to secure a Super Bowl title and have missed the playoffs for eight consecutive seasons following the 2025-26 season.
In recent organizational developments, Atlanta Falcons CEO Greg Beadles stated in late July that the team had implemented substantial changes to its football leadership. This included the hiring of former Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan as president of football in January. Following this, the team appointed Ian Cunningham, formerly of the Chicago Bears, as GM and Kevin Stefanski, ex-coach of the Cleveland Browns.
Beadles noted that despite recent on-field performance, the team's business operations have been exceptionally strong, achieving their best business year to date last year.
The Falcons' home venue, Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, is slated to host the Super Bowl in 2028.
