UFC star Ciryl Gane believes he is well-prepared to face the formidable challenge posed by two-weight UFC world champion Alex Pereira.
The upcoming co-main event at UFC Freedom 250 will see Gane and Pereira collide for the UFC interim heavyweight championship. The fight is scheduled to take place at the White House, and for the French fighter, this represents a significant opportunity to finally claim an undisputed world title.
Having previously fallen short against Francis Ngannou, Jon Jones, and Tom Aspinall, this marks Gane’s fourth attempt at a world title. Some fans have expressed surprise at his selection for this bout, particularly given the eye injury he inflicted on Tom Aspinall in his last fight.
In a recent interview, Ciryl Gane shared his thoughts on the upcoming bout:
Ciryl Gane Discusses Alex Pereira Challenge
“I’ve never fought outdoors, so it’s going to be special,” Gane stated. “That’s why when we arrive in Washington in a few days, we’ll begin training outdoors. Nobody enjoys heat and humidity, so we need to be prepared for it.”
Regarding the interim belt and the unique circumstances of the fight, Gane added, “We’ll see if anything happens before the fight. But for me, the feeling is yes, it’s going to be an interim belt, but the feeling is going to be different for sure. Firstly, because of my opponent; he’s a huge champion. And also because of the nature of this event. I don’t know how to say it, but the feeling is going to be different for sure…”
“This is the life of a fighter. This is my target, just fighting for this. I’m ready to sacrifice just for this. This is my target. I’m not looking for anything else. My mission is to win this belt.”
Despite potential doubters and the added pressure from fan opinions and the opponent’s popularity, Gane remains focused on his goal. This fight is widely considered a crucial opportunity for him to achieve his ultimate ambition in the sport.
