Aston Villa Agree Verbal Deal for PSG Winger Ibrahim Mbaye

Aston Villa has verbally agreed to a transfer for winger Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris Saint-Germain. The clubs have reached an understanding on a fee in the vicinity of £47 million for the 18-year-old talent. This move comes after Aston Villa missed out on AC Milan forward Rafa Leao, who has moved to Galatasaray.

Previously, in March, Sky Sports News had reported that Villa was among the Premier League clubs considering a move for Mbaye. Liverpool had also explored a potential deal for Mbaye this summer, but they have since shifted their focus to Mbaye's PSG teammate, Bradley Barcola.

Mbaye primarily operates on the right wing. Last season, he featured in 24 Ligue 1 matches for PSG, contributing three goals and two assists.

Emery Discusses Transfer Strategy Ahead of Deadline Day

Aston Villa has seen significant squad changes this summer, with notable departures including Youri Tielemans, Morgan Rogers, Ezri Konsa, and Lucas Digne. Ollie Watkins and Emiliano Martinez are also expected to leave the club.

In terms of new arrivals, the club has welcomed Alejandro Garnacho, Johan Manzambi, Leon Goretzka, Joao Gomes, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Matteo Ruggeri. Additionally, a deal has been agreed for Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea, with the agreement for Mbaye following.

Speaking prior to Aston Villa's match against Arsenal, live on Monday Night Football, Unai Emery addressed the club's transfer plans leading up to the September 1st Deadline Day.

Emery stated, "We made some decisions because it's beneficial for the club. We aimed to compete as effectively as possible, but certain situations are clear." He continued, "It's the right path and decision. We don't wish to be a selling club, but our responsibility is present. For the club, it's a good deal."

"It doesn't alter our priorities for competitiveness. We must remain the same, focusing on strong development with the players," he added. "I am confident and optimistic. The players we are signing are good players. We need to strike a balance between experience and players with immense potential."

"Naturally, I want to retain some players, those who help us achieve success. However, I accept it because I have experienced similar situations before," Emery admitted. "I anticipate continuing to pursue special and distinct approaches. The objective is to progress consistently. We will require time."

Emery Comments on Watkins' Exit and Jackson's Arrival

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery confirmed Ollie Watkins' departure and the imminent arrival of Nicolas Jackson during his press conference.

Emery disclosed that Watkins had apologized after missing the Brighton defeat, acknowledging the striker made an error. Watkins is reportedly set to join Al Hilal in a deal worth £50 million.

Villa has identified Jackson from Chelsea as his replacement, with a £65 million deal pending completion following his medical on Thursday.

Emery shared, "Watkins apologized after the Brighton game. He made a mistake. He has always behaved well at the club and with me. He's a fantastic person. I told him 'goodbye' with a big hug and a few tears."

"Now, it's a new chapter with Nicolas Jackson. Of course, all the best to him in Saudi Arabia. We are replacing him," he added.

When asked if Jackson would be available for Monday's game, Emery replied, "Hopefully."
