Jake Paul: We’ll Pay Jon Jones What He Deserves
Jake Paul has voiced his opinion on Jon Jones' current predicament, particularly after the celebrated fighter was not included on the UFC Freedom 250 event card.
Last year, Jones vacated his heavyweight championship and announced his retirement instead of facing the then-interim champion, Tom Aspinall. However, following the announcement of the UFC White House event (subsequently renamed UFC Freedom 250), the former two-division titleholder quickly re-entered the testing pool, expressing immediate interest in competing on June 14.
Over the preceding months, rumors circulated widely that "Bones" was slated to fight Alex Pereira at the White House event. Nevertheless, when the official bout list was unveiled last weekend, Jones's name was conspicuously absent. Meanwhile, "Poatan," who has since relinquished his light heavyweight title to pursue championship glory in a third weight class, is now set to challenge Ciryl Gane for the interim 265-pound championship in the co-main event of UFC Freedom 250.
When inquiries were made regarding Jones's exclusion from the card, UFC CEO Dana White jested that "Bones" was retired due to hip arthritis and that the company had never initiated contact with him about fighting at the White House event.
Jones, however, countered these claims, alleging that he was indeed in negotiations with the UFC brass, but they presented him with a lowball offer. As a result, his potential final fight, which could have occurred on June 14, did not materialize. Dissatisfied with Dana White’s remarks, Jones has publicly requested that the UFC release him if they believe he no longer has anything valuable to contribute.
Jake Paul Invites Jon Jones to Most Valuable Promotions (MVP)
Jake Paul has extended an open invitation to Jon Jones to join an MVP card for an MMA fight, promising him proper compensation, should Jones become a free agent. Following the recent press conference for Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano, "The Problem Child" told reporters:
"Jon [Jones], you’re always welcome to come over to MVP. We’ll get you paid what you deserve."
MVP's inaugural MMA event is scheduled for May 16. The main event will feature a five-round featherweight clash between Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano, with Francis Ngannou battling Philipe Lins in a heavyweight co-main event. This card will be broadcast on Netflix, marking the streaming platform's first-ever live MMA event.
Having already signed prominent fighters like "The Predator" (Ngannou), "Rowdy" (Rousey), and Carano, among others, the possibility of Jake Paul’s MVP also bringing in Jones could finally lead to a long-awaited showdown between "Bones" and Ngannou, a matchup eagerly anticipated by fans.
