Charles Oliveira's Wife Blasts Mauricio Ruffy Over UFC 326 Criticism
Vitoria Brum, the wife of UFC sensation Charles Oliveira, has publicly condemned Mauricio Ruffy for his recent critiques regarding Oliveira's performance at UFC 326.
Earlier this month, "Do Bronxs" secured the BMF title by defeating Max Holloway via a comfortable unanimous decision in the UFC 326 main event. Throughout the bout, Oliveira demonstrated a dominant strategy, landing 110 total strikes, achieving five takedowns, and maintaining control for over 20 minutes.
Despite this decisive victory, Oliveira's grappling-focused approach in a BMF title fight—where many anticipated an all-out striking battle—drew significant criticism. Fans, commentators, UFC CEO Dana White, and even Nate Diaz, the originator of the BMF belt concept, were among those who expressed their disapproval.
Adding to the chorus of critics, two-time UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski suggested that the promotion might consider retiring the BMF belt following the events of UFC 326. More recently, Mauricio Ruffy joined the detractors, commenting on Oliveira's path to victory in the Holloway rematch. Ruffy stated to Laerte Viana:
“[Charles] did what nobody expected, which was to stick to him [Max Holloway] from start to finish. If you go in just to grab someone, in the UFC business, you end up losing opportunities.”
It was widely speculated that the victor of the Max Holloway vs. Charles Oliveira 2 fight would potentially face Conor McGregor upon his anticipated return, possibly during International Fight Week in July. However, Ruffy believes that the UFC would lose interest in a potential "Do Bronxs" vs. McGregor matchup after what he termed the "UFC 326 snooze fest." He further elaborated:
“Charles had an incredible fight, but surely the UFC won’t want to see him grabbing and holding [McGregor], and Conor won’t put himself in that position either.”
Charles Oliveira's Wife Responds to Mauricio Ruffy
Vitoria Brum wasted no time in publicly addressing Mauricio Ruffy's remarks. She sharply reminded Ruffy that mixed martial arts encompasses more than just striking, emphasizing the role of jiu-jitsu.
“Then let’s schedule a boxing match, because if you want a fight, this is f***ing MMA, there will be jiu-jitsu!”
Brum also delivered a cutting retort, highlighting her husband's extensive submission record compared to Ruffy's total number of fights:
“Ruffy, don’t come trying to ride the wave of my husband, because he has more submissions than you have fights!”
