Sports news ยป Josh Hokit’s “Chama” Insult Towards Alex Pereira: “It means fu*k you”

Josh Hokit has once again taken a verbal jab at former two-division UFC champion Alex Pereira. Hokit initially directed comments at “Poatan” during the UFC Freedom 250 press conference, which led to a strong reaction from Ilia Topuria, and has now doubled down on his remarks by calling out the Brazilian.

Alex Pereira relinquished his light heavyweight title earlier this year and is scheduled to face Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight title this weekend at UFC Freedom 250.

Meanwhile, Hokit is set to fight Derrick Lewis on the same night. The American fighter is confident in his ability to knock out Lewis and subsequently expressed his desire to face “Poatan.”

Josh Hokit’s Latest Jab at Alex Pereira

In a recent interview with MMA Junkie, Josh Hokit, while again calling out Alex Pereira, stated:

“Alex Pereira, I want to chama on Alex Pereiraโ€™s mama. Omg, he said mama, he said mama. He said he said he is gonna chama on his mama.”

The term “Chama” has various meanings, including “call” and “flame.” However, Alex Pereira has popularized the phrase, using it in a context that translates to “let’s go.” Hokit, however, remains unconvinced that “Poatan” has fully disclosed the actual meaning of “Chama” to his fans. The 28-year-old elaborated:

“What does Chama mean? What if Alex was playing all of us, and Chama means like โ€œfu*k youโ€ or something the whole time? Imagine that. Man, what a legend.”

During the same interview, Hokit suggested that while most of Pereira’s fights are entertaining, he has primarily faced strikers in the UFC to date.

“I want Pereira. Heโ€™s a legend in the sport. Or at least thatโ€™s what everyoneโ€™s saying. I just think he came into the sport at the right time with a bunch of strikers. I donโ€™t take away the whole rivalry with [Israel] Adesanya. That was great. But everyone else was just favorable matchups. It was all strikers. But at least he was able to perform a certain way and get those opponents out of there, and all of his fights are pretty fun to watch.”

Finally, Josh Hokit mentioned that “Poatan” has never encountered an opponent like him and admitted that he wishes to leverage the Brazilian’s name to “catapult” his own career.

“I would like to also use his name to catapult my name. I think heโ€™s never faced a guy like me.”
