PGA Tour and Zyrtec Partner to Tackle Allergies on the Course
The PGA Tour has officially announced a multi-year collaboration with Zyrtec, designating the allergy medication as its premier Allergy Relief Sponsor. This partnership is set to address the common challenge of seasonal allergies faced by both athletes and spectators, especially as the golf calendar enters periods of high pollen counts.
Allergies can significantly impact a golfer's performance, with symptoms such as itchy eyes or sudden sneezes having the potential to disrupt crucial shots and focus. Professional golfer Akshay Bhatia, a three-time PGA Tour winner, shared his personal experience, noting that his allergy symptoms frequently intensify during the most critical tournaments of his season. He relies on Zyrtec to manage these symptoms effectively, ensuring they don't impede his game. Rising star Neal Shipley also serves as a player ambassador for the brand.
According to Kenvue, the parent company of Zyrtec, seasonal allergies affect approximately one in four adults. The prevalence is even higher among PGA Tour players, with an estimated 85% reporting allergy symptoms. Zyrtec, a recognized leader in over-the-counter oral allergy relief, aims to provide tangible benefits in the pollen-rich environments typical of golf courses.
The collaboration also introduces the "Yes Season" campaign, which underscores how allergies often lead individuals to postpone or avoid activities they enjoy. Through this initiative, Zyrtec seeks to empower people to fully engage in outdoor pursuits like golf, free from the constraints of allergy symptoms.
To engage with fans directly, Zyrtec has hosted interactive experiences at PGA Tour events, including those at Bay Hill and TPC Sawgrass. These activations featured activities like the "Pollen PuttPutt" and "The Relief Club," offering complimentary samples, custom-monogrammed golf towels, and refreshments, all while educating attendees about effective allergy management. The brand emphasizes that for golfers, allergy relief is not merely a matter of comfort but a necessity for competitive performance.
Zyrtec plans to extend its presence to three additional events in 2026: the RBC Heritage in April, the Truist Championship in May, and the Tour Championship later in the summer.
Dan Glod, Executive Vice President of Corporate Partnerships for the PGA Tour, expressed enthusiasm for the new agreement. He highlighted the commitment to offering effective relief to both players and fans as the golfing season transitions into its peak allergy period.
