The Rangers kept Trocheck at the trade deadline because they did not receive an offer that met their valuation. It’s believed that more teams will emerge as potential suitors throughout the summer. However, acquiring Trocheck will likely come at a significant cost given his current career stage.
McKenzie speculated that teams like the Montreal Canadiens, who could benefit from added depth at center, might also consider Trocheck. Johnston agreed that Montreal needs more good players and that Trocheck fits that description, although he cautioned it might not be the best use of their assets.
