Max Verstappen Signs Extended Contract with Red Bull Racing
Max Verstappen has finalized a new, long-term contract with Red Bull Racing, putting an end to widespread speculation about his future in Formula 1.
His previous agreement was set to conclude at the end of 2028. Earlier this year, reports emerged of discussions between Verstappen's representatives and McLaren regarding a potential move for the 2027 season.
Under the terms of the new deal, Verstappen is now committed to Red Bull until a minimum of the 2030 season, by which time he will be 33 years old.
"I am extremely pleased with this contract extension," Verstappen stated. "We have the best people in the sport, and I am eager to continue working with everyone to reclaim our leading position. This remains the ultimate objective we have all been striving for and will continue to pursue. I want to express my gratitude to Red Bull, Laurent, and everyone at Oracle Red Bull Racing for their unwavering trust in me."
He added, "I've always said it: this team feels like a second family to me, and I feel completely at home. I joined the team with the ambition to win races. What we have achieved together has been extraordinary, and we've shared numerous incredible moments, securing four World Championships. To continue this journey with the same team that has been my home throughout my career is truly special and something I've always desired."
"Working with Laurent for over a year now has been fantastic; I see a clear vision he has for the team. Everyone at Milton Keynes believes in what we are building, and I'm looking forward to the next chapter, competing for more victories and championships as we continue to shape the future of this team."
Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies commented, "Having Max continue with us and retaining the sport's best driver is tremendous news for everyone at Red Bull, Oracle Red Bull Racing, and indeed for Formula 1 and motorsport globally."
"Few partnerships in sports achieve what Max and this team have accomplished. From the outset, Max has embodied the very essence of what makes Oracle Red Bull Racing exceptional: fierce competitiveness, unwavering determination, and the boldness to challenge the status quo. His influence on our team and Red Bull's motorsport legacy has been transformative, and he has been instrumental in all our collective successes."
