Dundee Claim Derby Bragging Rights with Victory Over Winless Dundee United

Dundee emerged victorious in their cross-town derby clash, securing a well-deserved 2-0 win against Dundee United. This triumph sees them join the leading pack at the top of the nascent Scottish Premiership table.

Drey Wright opened the scoring just before halftime, and Owen Bevan added a second goal in the second half, marking Dundee's third win in their last four visits to Tannadice.

Under Steven Pressley, Dundee now shares the top spot with Celtic and St Mirren, each with six points, though they have played more games than most of their rivals. This victory makes it two wins out of their first three league fixtures.

In stark contrast, Dundee United faced a dispiriting evening. This loss marks their third consecutive defeat across all competitions, leaving them second from the bottom of the league with only a single point from their three Premiership matches.

United's manager, Jim Goodwin, made six alterations to the team that suffered a heavy defeat to Celtic in the Premier Sports Cup, reinstating key left-back Will Ferry after a minor injury.
