Arthur Fery's aspirations of securing his first ATP Tour title at the Winston-Salem Open were definitively halted by Peru's Ignacio Buse in the final on Saturday.

After a competitive start at 3-3 in the first set, Fery conceded six consecutive games, ultimately falling to Buse with a score of 6-3, 6-2.

The promising 22-year-old, Fery, had already celebrated a significant victory earlier in the season by capturing his inaugural tour-level trophy at the ATP 500 event in Hamburg.

Fery was also aiming to further enhance his already impressive season, which included reaching the semi-finals at Wimbledon.

Following his performance in the Winston-Salem final, the 24-year-old Fery has ascended to a new career-high of World No. 33 in the live rankings, surpassing Cameron Norrie to become the British No. 1.

Remarkably, just eight weeks prior, Fery was positioned outside the top 100 in the rankings.
