Ilia Topuria Predicts First-Round KO for Justin Gaethje, Sends Witty Message to Donald Trump
Reigning UFC Lightweight Champion Ilia Topuria has issued a strong warning to his upcoming opponent, Justin Gaethje. Their highly anticipated lightweight title unification bout is set to headline the UFC Freedom 250 card on June 14th, and Topuria, known as "El Matador," believes Gaethje will be an easy opponent to defeat.
Topuria has boldly predicted that he will finish "The Highlight" in the first round of their main event clash. The Georgian-Spaniard asserted that Gaethje's characteristic fighting style, which involves standing and trading blows without retreating, will be his downfall. Topuria believes this aggressive approach is ill-suited against his own superior technique and predicts that Gaethje will be caught early and fall.
The 29-year-old expressed confidence that the two-time interim lightweight champion will suffer a fate similar to Charles Oliveira's defeat at UFC 317. While acknowledging Gaethje's toughness and extensive experience, Topuria emphasized his conviction that "there are levels to this." He stated, "Everyone has their moment, and I feel like this is my moment, and the victory is mine."
He further elaborated on his prediction: "Based on his fighting style, how he comes out in every fight, I see it ending quickly, honestly. I see it similar to the Charles Oliveira fight because I don’t see him as someone who’s going to trade and then back up or fight while moving backward. I think he’s the kind of guy who offers a fight, and when you’re doing that, I think you’re making a mistake, especially when you’re fighting someone like me who has so much technique. Yes, I think it’s going to be in the first round."
Ilia Topuria's Humorous Advice for Donald Trump
Beyond his confident fight prediction, Ilia Topuria also shared a lighthearted message for former US President Donald Trump, who is expected to attend the June 14th event. Topuria jokingly advised Trump to arrive at the event with his hair neatly combed and to make sure not to blink, as he intends to knock out Justin Gaethje "REAL QUICK."
Topuria's exact words were: "Don’t blink and come with your hair neatly combed… because it’s going to be quick."
