UFC Fight Night: Evloev vs. Murphy in London showcased an undefeated featherweight who maintained his perfect record and strengthened his bid for a UFC featherweight title shot. Below are our power rankings, highlighting the top winners from the main card at UFC London.
UFC London Power Rankings
1. Iwo Baraniewski
Among the standout performances on the UFC London main card, Iwo Baraniewski’s was undeniably the most impactful, despite its brevity. The Polish light heavyweight, already known for a ‘Round of the Year’ contender knockout against Ibo Aslan, delivered an even faster finish on Saturday night. His initial two punches found their mark precisely on former heavyweight Austen Lane’s chin, sending the ex-NFL defensive lineman to the canvas. A subsequent barrage of strikes secured Baraniewski his second consecutive UFC victory. His exceptional striking power and immediate aggression make him a captivating fighter to watch in the Octagon.
2. Christian Leroy Duncan
Christian Leroy Duncan of England faced a significant challenge against the seasoned contender Roman Dolidze in London. The former Cage Warriors middleweight champion impressed on home turf, showcasing high-caliber striking and robust defensive skills to secure a unanimous decision. Duncan dominated the striking exchanges, forcing Dolidze to rely on wrestling and grappling. Even on the ground, Duncan’s effective defense neutralized Dolidze’s submission attempts. This unanimous decision victory solidifies Duncan’s position in the top echelon of the UFC’s middleweight division. With Dolidze ranked 11th before the event, expect ‘CLD’ to enter the official rankings soon.
3. Danny Silva
Danny Silva proved his doubters wrong at UFC London, delivering a performance that commanded respect. His previous decision loss to Kevin Vallejos, despite being a competitive bout, led some to underestimate his potential. Facing debuting grappler Kurtis Campbell, Silva had to be vigilant in the first round to counter Campbell’s attacks. However, in the second round, Silva unleashed a powerful offensive. His initial connection visibly stunned Campbell, and a rapid succession of strikes quickly led to a decisive stoppage. This marked Silva’s 11th career win, his third in the UFC, and his first finish inside the Octagon.
4. Movsar Evloev
Movsar Evloev of Russia went the full distance against Lerone Murphy, securing a majority decision (48-46, 48-46, 47-47) despite a fourth-round point deduction. While some observers, including myself, scored the bout a draw (47-47) from a distance, the judges, with their closer vantage point, likely had a better assessment of strike impact in several closely contested rounds. Despite some ‘robbery’ claims, which seem unfair to Evloev, he strategically focused on striking to impress the UFC hierarchy for a title opportunity. His ability to stand toe-to-toe with Murphy in striking and his dominant wrestling make him a strong contender for Alexander Volkanovski’s title. Though perhaps not the most electrifying challenger, Evloev might be the most formidable opponent for the Australian champion. A title fight during UFC International Fight Week appears to be a distinct possibility.
5. Luke Riley
Despite his own dissatisfaction with his performance, Luke Riley gained crucial Octagon experience in his unanimous decision victory against Michael Aswell Jr. The promising talent from Next Generation MMA, previously a standout in Cage Warriors, aimed for a stoppage in his co-main event slot. However, ‘The Texas Kid’ Aswell Jr. proved resilient, pushing Riley to the judges’ scorecards. This unanimous decision win positions Riley for more significant future bouts and provides valuable footage for him and his team to analyze as he ascends the featherweight ranks.
6. Michael Page
Michael Page’s bout against Sam Patterson generated some pre-fight confusion among fans, and the fight itself largely failed to ignite. Patterson struggled to initiate offense, and Page maintained distance, resulting in a contest decided by a limited number of significant strikes per round. Page’s superior striking ultimately secured him the decision. However, ‘MVP’ himself admitted it wasn’t the spectacular performance he desired. While Page consistently aims for highlight-reel finishes, and his speed and striking prowess are undeniable, such memorable moments often require opponents who are equally aggressive and willing to engage.
