Although Trae Young did not face the New York Knicks in this postseason, he still found a way to mock his familiar rivals.
During Sunday`s Game 7 between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Denver Nuggets, the Atlanta Hawks guard posted on X, subtly taking a jab at Knicks fans. He praised the Thunder supporters, stating they are louder than Knicks fans, with whom Young has often had disputes.
A rivalry has existed between Young, who played for the Oklahoma Sooners, and the Knicks since the 2021 playoffs.
Atlanta then defeated New York in five games in the first round of the Eastern Conference. Young took a bow after securing victory in Game 5 on the road. The teams met again the following Christmas, and anti-Young chants were heard during a Knicks win, even though the All-Star guard was inactive.
More recently, after the Hawks beat the Knicks in the NBA Emirates Cup quarterfinals to advance to play in Las Vegas, Young again mocked fans by “rolling the dice” at center court at Madison Square Garden.
This season, New York won the series against Atlanta with a 3-2 record. The Hawks and Young lost both play-in tournament games this season and missed the playoffs, while the Knicks have reached the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since the 1999-2000 season.
