Tony Ferguson and Dillon Danis both expressed confidence that their anticipated fight will happen in the near future, despite recent news.
The planned match between the former interim UFC lightweight champion and Conor McGregor`s teammate was set to be a highlight of Global Fight League`s inaugural weekend in May.
Tony Ferguson was aiming to break a losing streak of eight fights that led to the end of his UFC career.
Dillon Danis, on the other hand, was looking to build on his undefeated 2-0 record in MMA, marking his first fight since 2019.

Is the Tony Ferguson vs Dillon Danis Fight Canceled?
On Wednesday, GFL announced the cancellation of its first two events, originally scheduled for May 24th and 25th.
The GFL launch was expected to feature Paige Vanzant`s MMA return, along with appearances from notable fighters like Luke Rockhold, Chris Weidman, Anthony Pettis, Benson Henderson, Holly Holm, Chad Mendes, and numerous other former UFC stars.
However, according to Ferguson and Danis, there`s still a high possibility that their fight will proceed under the new league.
Danis initially showed his frustration with the news, especially after a previous fight cancellation with KSI.
“Bro, I just wanna f—— fight. wtf,” he posted on social media.
But, just two hours later, Danis updated his stance, stating: “Just got word, don’t believe everything you hear. My fight with Tony Ferguson is still on.”
Ferguson echoed this sentiment on his Instagram story after a late-night training session.
“Great practice. F—— bet it’s on. Dillon gon’ get it,” Ferguson declared.
GFL President Addresses the Situation
Darren Owen, the founder of GFL, reassured on Wednesday that this setback is not the end of his MMA promotion.
