Nashville Predators GM Search Advances

The Nashville Predators have moved forward in their general manager search, reportedly commencing in-person interviews with several candidates. During this process, the Carolina Hurricanes once again denied the Predators permission to interview their GM, Eric Tulsky. Additionally, the Hurricanes declined to discuss another related inquiry.

Among the individuals believed to have been interviewed are Brett Peterson, the Assistant GM for the Florida Panthers; Scott White, Assistant GM for the Dallas Stars; and Bill Scott, Assistant GM for the Edmonton Oilers. A new name has also emerged as a potential candidate: Darren York, who serves as the GM for the Chicago Wolves, an affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes. York, a veteran of 17 years within the Hurricanes organization, is understood to have had an in-person visit with the Predators.

Kade O’Rourke Applies for Exceptional Status in OHL

Texas-born hockey prospect Kade O’Rourke has submitted an application for exceptional status in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). If granted, this would permit the 15-year-old to enter the OHL Draft a year earlier than typically allowed.

O’Rourke, who relocated to Toronto four years ago and currently plays for the Toronto Junior Canadians, garnered significant attention at the recent OHL Cup, particularly for a highlight-reel goal he scored in the semi-finals. While Hockey Canada typically does not confirm such applications, reports indicate that O’Rourke has indeed applied, and many within the hockey community believe he is exceptionally ready for the OHL level. The OHL Draft is scheduled for June 12th.

A unique aspect of O’Rourke’s application is that no “pure-bred American” player has ever previously received exceptional status in the OHL; past recipient Sean Day held dual citizenship. There is considerable speculation that the OHL is keen to welcome O’Rourke into the league, recognizing his immense talent and potential impact.
