On the latest edition of the 32 Thoughts Podcast, hockey insider Elliotte Friedman provided an update on the Nashville Predators' ongoing search for a new general manager. Friedman indicated that the Predators are preparing to significantly narrow their list of candidates and intensify their selection process, with a decision anticipated within the next one to two weeks.

The team has reportedly cast a wide net, engaging with a diverse array of individuals. This includes seasoned former general managers, promising rising stars in the hockey world, and prominent figures such as Brendan Shanahan. Friedman clarified that not all interactions have been formal interviews; some were more informal "conversations" or "get-to-know-you" calls, with certain candidates having participated in multiple Zoom discussions with the organization.

While the precise profile of their ideal candidate remains undefined, the Predators have clearly had extensive contact with numerous professionals. They are now reportedly nearing a crucial decision point to trim their extensive initial list.

Among those reportedly contacted is Brett Peterson, who currently serves as the Assistant General Manager for the Florida Panthers and was also named GM for Team USA at the World Championships. It remains unclear whether the Predators plan to implement a new organizational structure, such as appointing a President of Hockey Operations in addition to a General Manager, a model seen in other franchises. All eyes continue to be on Nashville as they move closer to filling this pivotal leadership role.
