Sports news » Myrtle Beach World Am 2026: Registration Now Open

Registration is now officially open for the 43rd annual Play Golf Myrtle Beach World Amateur Handicap Championship, inviting golfers globally to secure their place. This prestigious event is set to draw approximately 3,000 participants to Myrtle Beach, renowned as the “Golf Capital of the World,” for an unparalleled week of golf and fellowship.

Scheduled from August 31 to September 4, 2026, this 72-hole tournament will unfold across over 50 of the Grand Strand’s top-tier golf courses. With 12 divisions and more than 60 competitive flights, the championship ensures fair play for golfers of all skill levels, ages, and genders, thanks to its meticulously managed and verified handicap system.

Kyle Oland, director of marketing for Golf Tourism Solutions, emphasized that the World Am transcends a typical tournament. “It’s a unique golf experience where competition, community, and connection converge, uniting the global golf community,” Oland stated. “From the intense on-course play to the vibrant nightly festivities at the 19th Hole, participants are encouraged to arrive as they are and depart feeling like legends.”

Golfers registering by March 31 qualify for an exclusive early commitment drawing, boasting over $25,000 in prizes, such as premium golf equipment and travel getaways. The early entry fee of $649 covers four rounds of tournament golf on championship courses, a participant gift bag worth nearly $300, and nightly access to the “World’s Largest 19th Hole” for both the participant and a guest. This special early entry period concludes on April 15.

The social epicenter of the tournament is the “World’s Largest 19th Hole,” hosted at the sprawling 120,000-square-foot Myrtle Beach Convention Center. This nightly celebration offers open bars, gourmet food from leading local restaurants, live music, diverse entertainment, and an extensive golf exposition. Popular golf creators St. Andre will return to host the nightly parties, alongside special guests including South Carolina natives George and Wesley Bryan of The Bryan Bros.

The championship culminates on Friday, September 4, with flight winners advancing to the Championship Round at Grande Dunes Resort Course to vie for the coveted title of World Amateur Champion.

With a cap of 3,000 participants, this premier amateur golf event anticipates rapid registration. Prospective golfers are strongly advised to register promptly to secure their spot.
