Lance Stroll: Aston Martin F1 driver returns for home Canadian Grand Prix

Sports news ยป Lance Stroll: Aston Martin F1 driver returns for home Canadian Grand Prix

Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll is set to compete in his home race, the Canadian Grand Prix this weekend, following his absence from the previous event in Spain due to injury.

Stroll had qualified 14th for the Spanish Grand Prix two weeks ago, but Aston Martin announced on Saturday night that he would not race on Sunday. This decision was made because of significant hand and wrist pain requiring a medical procedure.

The team clarified that the pain was a consequence of a procedure performed before the 2023 season, stemming from a wrist injury sustained in a cycling accident.

Aston Martin officially confirmed on Wednesday that Stroll has been cleared to race in Montreal.

“I`m really looking forward to being back in the car with the team for my home Grand Prix,” Stroll commented. “I was determined to recover in time to race in front of the fans in Montreal. I feel good after the procedure and managed to get some practice laps in at Paul Ricard earlier this week to get ready.”

A statement from Aston Martin read:

“Lance underwent a successful medical procedure to address the symptoms he was experiencing and completed some laps in an older F1 car at Paul Ricard this week. Lance feels fit and well, and is eager to compete in front of his home crowd.”
