Boston Celtics star forward Jayson Tatum is now officially on the path to recovery after successfully undergoing surgery on the right Achilles tendon he ruptured on Monday.
On Wednesday, Tatum shared a photo on Instagram following his surgery, expressing his sincere appreciation for the numerous well-wishes he has received from the NBA community and beyond.
He captioned the picture, which showed him giving a thumbs-up, with the words “`Thankful for all the love and support,`”, including a praying hands emoji.
Tatum sustained the injury during the fourth quarter of Monday`s Game 4 matchup between the Celtics and the New York Knicks. Prior to the injury, Tatum had impressively tallied 42 points and eight rebounds in the game.
Many prominent individuals offered their support to Tatum in the comments section of his Instagram post, including former New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez and actor Donnie Wahlberg. Rodriguez commented with heart and praying hands emojis, while Wahlberg wrote “`Much Love JT!`”. Earlier, on the night the injury occurred, LeBron James and Patrick Mahomes were among those who sent their well wishes via the X platform.
Without Tatum, the Celtics were scheduled to play Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Knicks on Wednesday night, aiming to keep their playoff hopes alive.
