The Formula 1 season continues with round three at the legendary Suzuka circuit in Japan, a favorite among drivers for its challenging high-speed corners that truly test aerodynamic performance.
Suzuka is set to host the first race of a triple-header before the teams move to the Middle East for events in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. Known for its demanding layout, Suzuka presents a significant test for both drivers and car engineering.
In a surprising qualifying session, Max Verstappen of Red Bull secured pole position, followed by McLaren`s Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. Ferrari`s Charles Leclerc will start fourth, with Mercedes` George Russell in fifth place.

This year, the passionate Japanese fans have extra reason to cheer as Yuki Tsunoda has been promoted to the main Red Bull team. The local driver takes the seat previously held by Liam Lawson, who returns to Racing Bulls after competing in the first two races.
In the qualifying session, Lawson outperformed Tsunoda by one position, securing 14th place after advancing from Q1 for the first time this season.
Despite being overtaken by Piastri in the last race, Norris maintains a narrow lead in the championship standings, eight points ahead of Verstappen. Russell is close behind Verstappen, and Piastri is just behind Russell.
Ferrari is looking to regain ground in both championships after a disappointing race where Lewis Hamilton`s promising sprint race was overshadowed by double disqualifications in the main Grand Prix.
Suzuka Circuit – Japanese GP Track
Suzuka, a 3.6-mile circuit, is globally recognized as an iconic Formula 1 track.
The figure-eight layout is famous for its series of fast, named corners, including the Esses, Degners, Spoon, and the challenging 130R. These combine to create one of the most demanding circuits in motorsport for drivers and car performance.
Suzuka has been a fixture on the F1 calendar since its debut in 1987, missing only four seasons. Originally positioned late in the season, it has hosted numerous championship-deciding races, including the famous Senna-Prost battles.
Since 2024, the Japanese Grand Prix has moved to an earlier April date, coinciding with Japan`s beautiful cherry blossom season.
Weather Forecast for Suzuka
Rain is expected overnight before the race, which could be beneficial after multiple stoppages during practice and qualifying due to grass fires.
