After experiencing consecutive knockout defeats, questions arose about Volkanovski`s ability to regain his position at the sport`s summit.

Eugene Bareman Believes Alexander Volkanovski Has Set a Path for Israel Adesanya

Volkanovski himself acknowledged the validity of doubts before UFC 314, recognizing the significant challenge ahead.

While Israel Adesanya`s return might not immediately place him in a title fight, any future match will likely be under scrutiny, with fans questioning his capacity to compete against top middleweights.

Eugene Bareman, Adesanya`s coach, mentioned in a Submission Radio interview that Adesanya is considering a return to the Octagon, though it`s still early in discussions.

Bareman recounted a brief conversation with Adesanya where he expressed intentions to fight again.

Bareman emphasizes that if Adesanya is serious about a comeback and aiming for victory, he needs to match the standard set by Volkanovski.

The coach has previously stressed the importance of complete dedication in training for Adesanya to compete at the highest level.

Referring to Volkanovski as the most hardworking and dedicated athlete he knows, Bareman indicated that Volkanovski has demonstrated the necessary approach for Adesanya to revitalize his career.

“Izzy is aware of the required commitment in this sport, and we’ve just witnessed our close friend, who is around the same age or even older, achieve a world championship. We both know firsthand how intensely he works. Age becomes irrelevant with such dedication. We have a prime example in our friend`s work ethic.

“That’s the benchmark, the level we need to reach, and Izzy understands the immense commitment required. Dedicating oneself like Volk is a significant undertaking for any fighter, especially one later in their career. These are the considerations on Izzy’s mind.”

Potential Opponents for Israel Adesanya

Following a loss to Nassourdine Imavov in February, facing another rising contender might not be the optimal move for Adesanya.

However, the UFC often creates such matchups, offering Adesanya a chance to prove his relevance or allowing his opponent to score a career-defining victory.

Possible opponents include Caio Borralho and Anthony Hernandez, while a Sean Strickland rematch is another possibility.

Adesanya would likely seek to avenge his loss to Strickland, and for Strickland, a second win over Adesanya could restore his momentum after a defeat to Dricus du Plessis.
