Melvin Guillard’s career since leaving the UFC has unfortunately deteriorated significantly.

During his prime, ‘The Young Assassin’ competed in 22 bouts under the UFC banner, the top MMA promotion.

Throughout his 14 years in the UFC, Guillard faced notable opponents such as Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone, Jim Miller, Jeremy Stephens, and Nate Diaz, solidifying his position as a credible lightweight contender.

However, since his departure following a loss to Michael Johnson, the 42-year-old fighter has managed only one victory.

As of 2025, he is on a ten-fight losing streak, including significant losses against former two-time UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and former interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje.

Another Defeat for Melvin Guillard

Guillard`s struggles continued on Saturday night in a fight against Josiah Harrell, marking a new low in his post-UFC career.

Harrell, an undefeated prospect who had a brief stint with the UFC before requiring brain surgery, extended his perfect record to 9-0 at Ohio Combat League 38 with a dominant performance.

Social media footage shows Harrell securing the win via first-round rear-naked choke.

The video captured the moment Guillard was suplexed by Harrell at the MegaCorp Pavilion in Newport, Kentucky, landing awkwardly on his head before the submission.

Fans Express Concern and Urge Guillard to Retire

Concerned fans took to social media following the loss.

Sucks seeing a dude continue to take this kind of damage cause he has no other way to make money.

Another commenter highlighted:

And he has a fight booked in 4 weeks time.

A third fan questioned:

How is he still getting fights?

Another user simply stated:

That hurts to see.

A fifth plea read:

Man, poor Melvin. Just stop, bro. TUF legend.

An X (formerly Twitter) user commented:

There’s a guy who has zero business fighting and yet he continues to go out there and getting embarrassed. Someone stage an intervention to get him to quit doing this to himself.
