Formula 1 returns to Europe for the Austrian Grand Prix amidst a heating title battle.

In the Drivers` Championship, Oscar Piastri holds a 22-point lead over Lando Norris following their collision at the recent Canadian Grand Prix, where Norris was forced to retire.

Max Verstappen closed the gap slightly but is still 43 points behind Piastri. He aims for victory at Red Bull`s home circuit, the Red Bull Ring, where he has won five times before.

Last year`s Austrian GP winner, George Russell, secured Mercedes` first win of 2025 in Montreal, a race where Kimi Antonelli achieved his first F1 podium.

Ferrari plans to introduce upgrades in Spielberg, hoping to help Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton challenge closer to the front of the field.

The weekend in Austria will be busy, with Formula 2 and Formula 3 also on the support schedule. You can follow all the action.

Red Bull Ring Circuit Details

The Red Bull Ring is one of the shortest circuits by lap time. In dry conditions, pole position laps are expected to be in the 1:03 range.

The 2.7-mile track officially has 10 corners, though only seven require braking. It`s well-suited for overtaking, featuring three consecutive DRS zones from the main straight through Turn 4.

The uphill section towards Turn 3 is known for action, including notable incidents like Rosberg vs. Hamilton in 2016, Verstappen vs. Leclerc in 2019, and Verstappen vs. Norris in 2024.

The lap concludes with two quick right-handers. Track limits were previously a concern here, but gravel traps on the exits have helped mitigate this issue.

Austrian GP Weather Forecast

Current forecasts predict no rain for the Austrian Grand Prix weekend. Sunny conditions and temperatures around 30°C are expected throughout the three days.

However, teams remain aware that thunderstorms can develop quickly in the Spielberg hills.
