This summer marks a new era for the FIFA Club World Cup. The United States is hosting the first expanded edition of the tournament, featuring 32 teams from across the globe vying for a significant portion of the massive $1 billion prize fund.
Many prominent clubs are participating in this revamped competition. The field includes winners like UEFA Champions League victors, alongside major South American teams. Europe has the largest contingent with 12 teams, while South America sends six. Asia and Africa are represented by four teams each, and North America has five participants, including three MLS sides. Oceania secures one spot, held by Auckland City, the tournament`s only amateur representative.
While every team aims for success, their positions differ. Underdogs like Lionel Messi`s Inter Miami and Simone Inzaghi`s Al-Hilal will look to challenge the expected dominance of European powerhouses. Meanwhile, top European clubs such as Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Inter Milan (hoping for silverware after their domestic campaigns) arrive with high expectations.
