Dillon Danis, a figure known for stirring controversy, had planned a busy start to 2025 to revitalize his career.
Danis intended to compete against both KSI and Tony Ferguson in quick succession, aiming to silence critics who have questioned his willingness to fight.
Victories in either of these bouts would have significantly improved his standing after a lackluster performance against Logan Paul in 2023.
Unfortunately, KSI withdrew from their scheduled Misfits Boxing match on March 29, citing illness and recent retirement considerations.
Adding to his misfortunes, Danis`s debut in the Global Fight League (GFL) against Tony Ferguson was also canceled when the promotion scrapped its first two events set for May 24 and 25.
Mams Taylor of Misfits Boxing Promises Danis a Future Fight
Dillon Danis hasn`t always helped his public image, but these two canceled fights represented significant opportunities for him to change the narrative.
A victory over KSI could have compensated for his loss to Logan Paul and opened doors to bigger opportunities in boxing. Meanwhile, an MMA fight against a legend like Tony Ferguson was the matchup Danis seemed most enthusiastic about.
Both opportunities have now vanished through no fault of Danis, despite Misfits` apparent efforts to find him a last-minute replacement opponent.
Danis expressed his frustration on social media, stating his commitment to changing perceptions and staying active in 2025. He lamented the loss of both fights and the resulting criticism about his fighting record.
“Being real, I’m frustrated as hell. I wanted to stay as active as possible for myself and for everyone who supports me in 2025. First KSI canceled on me, then said he wouldn’t be fit to reschedule. We couldn’t lock in a replacement. I said yes to everyone. And now with the Tony Ferguson fight being moved, I get the criticism.”
“I know what people say about me not fighting. I don’t want that to be the narrative, and I’ve been doing everything I can to change it. I just want to back up everything I’ve been saying and prove I’m the best in the world. Sorry, everyone.”
Mams Taylor, a promoter for Misfits Boxing, responded to Danis`s post with encouragement, suggesting that a fight is in his near future.
“You’ve sure had some bad luck. You’re fighting soon Danis.”
Who Might Be Dillon Danis`s Next Opponent?
With the Global Fight League`s future uncertain, it`s questionable whether any promotion besides PFL could afford to book Danis and a suitable opponent.
Misfits Boxing has offered a lifeline, and despite boxing not being his primary discipline, it might be Danis`s best path to remain active.
Names like Darren Till and Mike Perry have been mentioned as potential opponents for Danis recently. With KSI and the Paul brothers seemingly unavailable, these could be viable, albeit challenging, options.
While Danis may not garner widespread sympathy, his career has undoubtedly been affected by recent unfortunate events.
