A hypothetical battle between an army of Daniel Cormiers and a single gorilla has sparked disagreement between the former two-division UFC champion and another prominent MMA figure.
The online debate about how many men it would take to overpower a gorilla has captivated the internet recently, with many people weighing in.
While many doubt that a group of ordinary men could stand a chance against a gorilla, `DC` (Daniel Cormier) is far from an average individual.
Given his exceptional fighting spirit and skill, it`s reasonable to assume that 100 copies of him would have a significantly better chance than a hundred untrained people.
Ben Askren Believes 100 Daniel Cormiers Could Defeat a Gorilla
As the debate gained traction globally, Ben Askren was eager to discuss it with Daniel Cormier.
However, their opinions on how 100 men would fare against a single gorilla differed greatly.
During an episode of `Funky and the Champ,` Askren exclaimed, “I’m so excited. There’s this thing online, 100 men vs a gorilla.”
Finding the concept absurd, Cormier told his co-host, “Stop.”
Nonetheless, Askren reasoned, “Everyone is neglecting cardio here. Even skilled fighters get tired. I was just doing the math.
“If a gorilla can kill a human in 15 seconds, 100 humans would take 1500 seconds, which is about 25 minutes. Can a gorilla truly fight intensely for 25 minutes? No, it cannot fight hard for that long.”
Taking the opposite stance, the UFC Hall of Famer argued, “Every time they run at him, he`s instantly taking them down. 100 men stand no chance. It won`t take 25 minutes. First off, he`s biting, scratching, and hitting you incredibly hard.”
Adopting a tactical approach, the former Bellator welterweight champion proposed, “What if you just run at him, fake an attack, and then run away, and then someone else does the same, so he`s constantly moving? Everyone keeps evading him but also provoking him?”
This led Cormier to point out, “I watched Khabib Nurmagomedov wrestle a bear, and the bear was getting the better of him.”
This didn`t change Askren`s mind, with the American stating, “I saw Khabib pin that bear.” Cormier retorted, “Yes, but it was a tough match.”
At this juncture, the former welterweight fighter shifted the question, asking the former UFC heavyweight champion, “What about 100 Daniel Cormiers against a gorilla?”
Showing a surprising lack of confidence, the legend admitted, “I`d be getting beaten soundly again and again.”
Displaying faith in his friend, Askren enthused, “Come on, man, I believe in you.”
Reaching the end of his patience, Cormier fumed, “You guys have no idea; this is the most absurd idea ever. I can`t believe we`re discussing this on our show. I`m finished with this topic.”
Refusing to yield, `Funky` declared confidently, “One hundred Daniel Cormiers would beat a gorilla; I`d bet my house on it.”
Officially done with the subject, Cormier exasperatedly said, “Shut up, Ben.”
While the former champion isn`t convinced he`d succeed against a gorilla, perhaps if Cormier got as angry as he did when Khabib Nurmagomedov pranked him, he might stand a chance.
How Many Eddie Halls to Defeat a Single Gorilla?
While Cormier is skeptical about his odds against a gorilla, strongman Eddie Hall possesses significant self-confidence.
Although not as inherently dangerous as the wild animal, the 2017 World`s Strongest Man is undeniably one of the planet`s most powerful individuals.
And having recently dominated Mariusz Pudzianowski in the first round at KSW 105, he`s currently carrying strong momentum.
Now, the strongman icon has shared his opinion on how many versions of himself would be needed to defeat a gorilla.
