The British Grand Prix weekend has arrived, marking the halfway point of an exciting 2025 Formula 1 season.
Following his recent victory in Austria, Lando Norris is in prime position to aim for his first win at Silverstone on home turf and reduce the 15-point gap to championship leader Oscar Piastri.
The McLaren teammates engaged in an intense battle at the Austrian Grand Prix, with Norris ultimately prevailing. He will be seeking his first consecutive wins in a single season.
Max Verstappen is currently 63 points behind Piastri after an incident with Kimi Antonelli on the first lap of the previous race. He faces a significant challenge to revive his title aspirations.
A major focal point will be Lewis Hamilton`s debut British Grand Prix as a Ferrari driver, one year after his memorable victory at the event.
Hamilton boasts an impressive streak of 12 consecutive podium finishes at Silverstone. Extending this run would also mark his first podium with Ferrari.
George Russell has often experienced misfortune at his home race, with his best result being fifth in 2023. He will be hoping Mercedes can recapture the winning form they showed in Canada.
Sky`s coverage of the British Grand Prix weekend traditionally kicks off early with The F1 Show Special broadcast live on Thursday evening at 6 pm.
The entire weekend`s action from Silverstone will be broadcast live on Sky Sports F1. All on-track F1 sessions will also be available for free on Sky Showcase for Sky subscribers.
Silverstone Track Layout
The 3.661-mile Silverstone circuit is a favorite among drivers due to its challenging high-speed corners like Copse, Maggotts, Becketts, and Stowe.
The track also offers ample overtaking opportunities on the Wellington and Hanger Straights, and even in `The Loop` section early in the lap.
Silverstone hosted the inaugural F1 World Championship event in 1950 and has remained a cornerstone of the F1 calendar for most years since.
British GP Weather Forecast
It wouldn`t be a British Grand Prix without the possibility of rain. The current forecast indicates potential showers during qualifying on Saturday and the main race on Sunday.
Temperatures are expected to drop to around 22°C from Wednesday onwards in the UK, although Friday`s practice sessions are predicted to be dry.
