Barcelona, coached by Hansi Flick, will play against Borussia Dortmund in Germany for the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal match. The game is at Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday. Barcelona won the first leg 4-0 at home last week. In that game, Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, and Robert Lewandowski (twice) scored. Lewandowski, who used to play for Borussia Dortmund from 2010 to 2014, will be back at his old stadium.
Barcelona`s manager, Flick, talked about his team`s motivation even after their big win last week. He said at a press conference, “I really believe in this team. We haven`t lost many games, and we should be proud of that. I`m very happy with all my players. This team is amazing. We`ve worked hard all season, and the players are fit and ready. Motivation is always key at this point in the season when you need to push a little harder.”
Barcelona`s goalkeeper, Wojciech Szczesny, is expected to play on Tuesday. He spoke about how great this season has been for him, especially since he had thought about retiring. “A few months ago, I was retired, and now I`m playing for one of the best teams in Europe. I love winning. I never thought I`d have a chance to win these big competitions after retiring. My dream is to win the Champions League, and I hope it comes true.”
Borussia Dortmund`s coach, Niko Kovac, gave an update on Emre Can, the team captain. Can might not play against Barcelona because of a muscle problem in his groin area that he’s had for weeks. Kovac said, “He`s been playing through the pain, which is really impressive.” Can missed the last practice before the Tuesday game.
