Argentina`s Minister of National Security, Patricia Bullrich, recently submitted a list containing the names of over 15,000 violent soccer fans to the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires. These individuals will be barred from attending the Club World Cup tournament taking place this summer in the United States.
“The list includes more than 15,000 people who will be banned from stadiums,” Bullrich stated. She emphasized the critical nature of this measure, asserting that “no violent person who has committed any crime in Argentine stadiums will be able to attend this sporting event.”
This compilation of names was generated through the `Tribuna Segura` (Secure Stand) initiative, a program designed to identify and restrict individuals previously prohibited from entering stadiums in Argentina.
Bullrich, who has held her current position since Javier Milei became president in 2023, provided statistics on the program`s impact: “Since the beginning of this government, Tribuna Segura has monitored more than four million people in 1,328 matches,” she explained. “We have detected 1,166 people with arrest warrants and have issued more than 40 administrative resolutions restricting entry to stadiums.”
The Club World Cup is scheduled to run from June 14 to July 13 in the U.S. Two teams from Argentina are participating: Boca Juniors and River Plate. Boca Juniors is drawn into Group C, where they will face Germany`s Bayern Munich, Portugal`s Benfica, and New Zealand`s Auckland City in the initial stage. River Plate is in Group F and will compete against Italy`s Inter, Mexico`s Monterrey, and Japan`s Urawa Red Diamonds during the group phase.
