The ATP has confirmed Andrea Gaudenzi’s re-election as its Chairman for a third consecutive term, extending his leadership through 2028. He initially assumed the role in January 2020.
During Gaudenzi’s tenure, men’s professional tennis has experienced significant expansion. Player compensation at the ATP level has surged by $100 million, projected to hit a record $269.6 million in 2025, and a combined $400 million including Grand Slams.
Key reforms implemented via OneVision, the ATP’s long-term strategic framework, have improved fan engagement, elevated premier Tour events, and fostered greater alignment between players and tournaments.
For his third term, Gaudenzi will oversee a comprehensive product review set for implementation in 2028. This review will coincide with the launch of a tenth ATP Masters 1000 event in Saudi Arabia and will scrutinize rankings, compensation models, calendar efficiency, and event formats.
ATP Chairman Andrea Gaudenzi expressed his honor in continuing to serve an organization that has profoundly influenced his career, stating, “When I reflect on what we’ve achieved, I see a sport with stronger foundations than ever, underpinned by record growth that speaks to tennis’s potential.”
He added, “Now is the time to keep pushing. The second phase of OneVision is about unifying our governance, adapting and becoming more agile, because our sport is undeniably stronger when we move forward together. Thank you to the ATP Board and our members for their continued trust and support.”
A significant achievement of Gaudenzi’s leadership is the implementation of tournament profit-sharing at ATP Masters 1000 events, providing financial transparency via audits. This initiative has already distributed over $37 million to players in three years. Beginning in 2026, this profit-sharing model will extend to ATP 500 events, further aligning player and tournament interests and allowing athletes to directly benefit from the sport’s expansion.
The transition to 12-day ATP Masters 1000 events has boosted total compensation in this category by 59% in only three years, broadening earning prospects for more players. This expansion has also spurred significant infrastructure investments in cities like Shanghai, Cincinnati, Madrid, Rome, and Paris, enhancing player facilities and contributing to a record 5.6 million fan attendance across ATP Tour events in 2025.
Further compensation increases stem from the Masters 1000 Bonus Pool’s expansion from 12 to 30 players, reaching a record $21.5 million by 2026 with further growth expected from 2028. Additionally, the ATP 500 Bonus Pool, established in 2023, is projected at $3.07 million in 2026.
Prize money on the ATP Challenger Tour has seen a substantial 167% increase since 2022, reaching a record $32.4 million by 2026, thereby fortifying the career path for emerging talent.
Revenue growth has been bolstered by the establishment of Tennis Data Innovations (TDI) in 2021 and the consolidation of media rights under ATP Media. These efforts have maximized the commercial value of the Tour’s media and data assets, leading to unprecedented revenue figures.
Other notable achievements under Gaudenzi include extending the ATP Pension Plan to 300 players, with contributions anticipated to reach $26 million by 2025, up from $12.7 million in 2019. The new ‘Baseline’ initiative also enhances financial stability by guaranteeing minimum earnings for the Top 250 ranked players, a historic first.
Moving forward, the second phase of OneVision aims to intensify collaboration among the T-7 entities (ATP, WTA, ITF, and the four Grand Slams) to fully unlock tennis’s global growth potential.
After a successful professional tennis career, where he secured three ATP titles and achieved a career-high ranking of World No. 18, Gaudenzi pursued higher education. He earned a law degree from the University of Bologna, Italy, and an MBA from the International University of Monaco. He then spent 18 years building a successful business career spanning sports marketing, entertainment, data, technology, and media, prior to rejoining the tennis world.
