The Valero Texas Open returns to the Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio for its 15th consecutive year, marking the PGA Tour`s final stop in Texas. Following Min Woo Lee`s victory at the Texas Children`s Houston Open, a new field of 156 players will compete in San Antonio for a coveted spot in the Masters Tournament. For those not already qualified, winning this tournament is the last chance to secure entry into the first major of the year.
Last year, Akshay Bhatia triumphed over Denny McCarthy in a playoff at this event, and both players are back to contend for the title once again. Bhatia will be competing for the first time since his impressive third-place finish at the Players Championship in March. McCarthy is aiming for a breakthrough win after achieving five top-20 finishes this season. Corey Conners, a two-time Valero Texas Open champion (2019 and 2023), will also be participating. The tournament boasts a total prize pool of $9.5 million, with the winner taking home $1,710,000.
