The Oklahoma City Thunder guard is nominated in two categories: Best Athlete – Men`s Sports, and Best NBA Player. Additionally, the Oklahoma City Thunder team is among the nine nominees for Best Team, recognized for their performance, including a Game 7 victory over the Indiana Pacers.
Many nominees earned their ESPY recognition for stellar performances during the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris. Gymnastics icon Simone Biles and track and field standout Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone are contenders for Best Athlete – Women`s Sports. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is the only other NFL player besides Barkley to be nominated in both the Best NFL Player and Best Athlete – Men`s Sports categories.
